Hello, Is Anyone There on our Facebook Page

Three Facebook Fans to Every One Apartment Unit.

Administering a Facebook Page with less than a few thousand fans is pretty lonely, because no one is there. On top of that it is arguably a waste of resources. There just isn’t enough engagement to make much of a difference to your business or apartment community. The hucksters who tell you otherwise are likely selling you the service that administers lonely faceless Facebook Fan Pages. If you aren’t growing your Facebook Fans substantially, you are wasting your time because no one is there.

All the yap about engagement, community and so on has no traction with a few hundred fans, it just doesn’t. Perhaps you can tell your boss that your apartment community has a Facebook page, but beyond that, your time may be better spent on something useful.

A Bigger Fan Base is Better

Ultralinx posted an article titled The Importance of Having a Fan Base, which included a cool infograph illustrating their point.

With the explosion of Social Media, businesses and brands have found a new way to advertise. Advertising through Social Media has a lot better ROI than most other types of advertising and can help build relationships between businesses and their customers. Building relationships with people fosters loyalty, as a result, loyalty has the potential to increase profit. From the infographic below there are a key points to which a business can benefit from having a fan base.

Benefits of having a fan base:

  • 50% of small business owners reported that they gained new customers through social media.
  • Ning, a social network platform, has found that it only takes 20 people to create an online community.
  • 64% of Twitter users say they are more likely to buy from a brand if they already follow it. 51% said the same on Facebook.

Numbers Matter, Bigger IS Better

I have been skeptical about Facebook Marketing for some time, however I have changed my mind. We have since placed a disproportionate amount of our marketing resources on the Facebook bet, and I am glad we did, as it is producing a steady stream of apartment leasing leads for us at Urbane Apartments. That said, it didn’t happen until we reached a three to one ratio, meaning Three Facebook Fans to Every One Apartment Unit.

For the last twenty-four months or so we have been working pretty hard to position The Urbane Life Facebook Page to cross 10,000 Facebook Fans. Getting to 10,000 Fans has become an obsession around our leasing office to say the least, but Facebook has started to supply a steady stream of apartment leasing leads.
