Directors of GVSU ‘Come Sail Away’ lip dub talk to The Urbane Way … and this is what they said

If you haven’t already seen the Grand Valley State University lip dub, you’re definitely missing out. The video already has more views on YouTube than students at the university.

Students Greg Kort, Chris Coleman and Lucas Flora provided the brainpower behind the project and, along with 630 of their peers, put together an elaborate lip dub to the classic Styx song “Come Sail Away.” There’s confetti, umbrellas, a snorkeler in a water fountain, and much more, with the Allendale, Michigan-based school as the picturesque backdrop for the shoot.

Check out the official video here:

I had the chance to sit down and chat with these guys recently about their inspiration for the video, the sense of community it’s ignited, and got them to open up about one minor mishap with the school mascot, Louie the Laker.

(Lucas and Greg, please forgive the split screen view that crops you out! Totally my bad.)

To connect with the project online, check out the Facebook page. And to see the outtake with Louie the Laker (who was not harmed in the making of this video), you can see that here:
